Classes and More

New Beginner Classes

We run beginner classes each term for complete beginners with no experience. If you have not danced Ballroom and Latin before, these are the ones for you!

Continuing Classes

Once you have started dancing you wont want to stop learning so we have classes you can attend for many years. We explain when and where these are to existing students.

Monthly Social Dances

About once a month we run a social dance on a Friday. This is a chance to see dancers from other classes and enjoy the social aspects of dancing.

Weekly Dance Practices

We run a weekly practice on Tuesday nights. Here you have the space and music to practice what you have been learning in class.

Friday Night Dances

We run social dances about once a month at The Greenway Centre (see venue details here), which has been a resounding success as it has an excellent floor and a café bar to the side which helps make the dances even more of a social event.

These are mainly attended by our own students but we also welcome any Ballroom and Latin dancers to come along.  Please note that we do not play any sequence dances.

Price £7.50 per person

Please put those dates in your diaries. Feel free to bring your own bottled water but as there is a bar at the venue with very reasonable prices, please don’t bring other types of refreshment. The bar will be selling chilled bottled/canned beers and lagers, wines, juices etc. Bar custom helps support the centre and ensure we are welcome guests in the future.

Weekly Practices

We run once weekly Practice Sessions on Tuesday nights at The Elmgrove Centre from 7:45 – 9:45pm during term times. This is open to present and past students and to any other Ballroom and Latin dancers (although it would not suit competitive dancers). The practices are in the large hall of the Elmgrove Centre with the entrance slightly up the hill of Elmgrove Road, (not in the small hall with the entrance on Redland Road). See our venues page for a map and instructions. Price £5.00 (£4.50 Concessions) per person per session
There is no formal programme or instruction at the practices as there will be people of all different levels from beginners to experienced. However, Toby who mans the door is an experienced student and can tell you what type of dance is playing and can usually help if you have forgotten steps.
Unlike the classes, you really need to make sure there will be someone at your level to dance with before you go. If you do not have a regular dance partner, you could make a one to one arrangement with someone else in your class, or as some of our students do, get a group of six or so people from your class to go along and switch partners during the practice.

Over the evening we play about forty dance tracks covering the different dances covered in the classes.

This section contains the latest class timetable. The download file here will change each term. The new timetable is usually available about three weeks after the beginning of term. The timetable is intended for existing students, so they know what dances will be covered in upcoming lessons and to help as a reminder for weekend dances. If you have not been to our classes before, please contact us before coming to a class so we can ensure you go to a class of the appropriate level. If you do not have any dance experience, it is best for you to join one of our new beginners classes which start in January, after Easter and September. If you join our e-mailing list we can send you details of the next beginner classes about a month before they begin.
