Salsa Classes and Dances in Bristol

Salsa has become a very popular dance in cities throughout the world. The lively music just makes you want to get up and dance, and it doesn’t take much time in a salsa class to learn a few basic steps.

Reduced Schedule Salsa Classes

Unfortunately, we are currently not running any beginners salsa classes or salsa dances due to our reduced schedule.

However we do have new beginners Latin & ballroom classes each term which you might enjoy as much if not more than salsa!

Latin & ballroom classes cover four Latin dances which have many similar characteristics to Salsa but also give you more variety both in the dances and the music, which you may find more enjoyable than simply learning a single dance like salsa.

The Cha Cha Cha is slower than a salsa (which is a plus for many people) but is still and upbeat and energetic dance that can be danced to many contemporary songs. This is the first dance you learn in our classes.

The Samba is the Brazilian carnival dance which is faster than a Cha Cha Cha and is known for its bouncy steps and hip action. Whereas most Latin dances are danced in one spot on the dance floor the Samba progresses around the room.

The Rumba is the slowest of the Latin dances and at a dance makes a welcome change of pace to catch your breath before the next fast song. Many of the step patterns in the Rumba are the same as in the Cha Cha Cha, but slower, so getting started with it is really easy.

It surprises many people hear the Jive is classed as a Latin dance but it is. The Jive has similarities to Swing dancing, Ceroc/LeRoc and Rock ‘n’ Roll. It is another fast dance.

We hope to bring back our salsa events when our schedule permits, so please subscribe to the newsletter so we can let you know when they are available.
